Updating FreeCAD/Croquet
Written by Kayef on July 27th, 2008FreeCAD/Croquet is curently under constant development and updates will constantly be added in the form of a Monticello package. To update your version of FreeCAD/Croquet, download the latest Monticello package here. The Monticello package will have a .mcz file extension. After downloading it, save it in your Croquet folder. The guide below shows the complete steps on downloading and installing FreeCAD/Croquet update using the Monticello browser :-
1. Click this link and download the latest Monticello package and save it to your computer.
2. Open your Croquet folder, double-click on the ‘package-cache’ folder and place the *.mcz file you have downloaded here.
3. Go up one level to your Croquet folder and launch Croquet by double-clicking the MS-DOS Batch File named ‘Croquet’.
4. Click on an empty space in the Croquet window and select open.
5. Select Monticello Browser to launch the Monticello Browser window.
6. There are 2 panes in the Monticello Browser window, the left shows the list of installed packages and the right shows the list of default repository which are locations of the installed packages. The first location on the repository list is the location on your local disk in the ‘Croquet/package-cache folder’. Click once on that location and click on the ‘Open’ button above it.
7. A new window which shows all the packages contained in that repository will appear. If you have placed the FreeCAD.mcz package file in the ‘Croquet/package-cache’ folder, it will be listed here.
8. Select and click the package you want to install listed on the right and click the Load button on top.
9. Once the package has been loaded, you can close the browsers, click on an empty space and select objects.
10. Choose Croquet from the green ‘objects’ window and drag the Kayef-FreeCAD world out and the updated FreeCAD/Croquet will load.
